Allara’s Dream Hexagon

Are you tired of making granny squares, why not crochet some hexagons instead. They are a perfect choice if you want to make a cosy blanket or a cushion cover. This particular hexagon is a part of one of my recent projects. In this tutorial, I used two colourways in Scheepjes Stone Washed XL, but you can use any other yarn and make it as colourful as you desire. I hope you enjoy this pattern.

Recommended hook size: 3.5mm

Finished size: approx. 25cm

Abbreviations (US terms)

sc – single crochet

hdc – half double crochet

dc – double crochet

tr – treble

fpsc – front post single crochet

fphdc – front post half double crochet

fpdc – front post double crochet

fptr – front post treble

bp – back post

ch – chain

st(s) – stitch(es)

sk – skip

st – stitch

slst – slip stitch

pop –popcorn

sp – space

cl – cluster

Special Stitches:

cluster(4) – yarn over, insert hook in st, yarn over, pull through st, yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook – 4 times, yarn over, pull through all 4 loops on hook, pull through the remaining 2 loops, ch 1 to close the cl

V(2)st – dc, ch2, dc in same st

V(3)st – dc, ch3, dc in same st

Round 1

start with a magic circle, ch3 (counts as dc), make 11 more dc, join with a slst

Round 2

standing dc in any dc, ch2, cl, ch2, dc…repeat, join with a slst

[6dc, 6 clusters, 12ch2]

Round 3

fpsc around any dc, [3sc in the ch2sp], fpsc around the next cl, [3sc in the ch2sp], fpsc around the next dc…repeat, join with a slst

Round 4

V(3)st in any fpsc, ch2, fpdc around the next fpsc, ch2, V(3)st in the next fpsc…repeat, join with a slst
