
Fire Blossom Hexagon
Crochet hexagons are one of my favorite blocks to crochet. You can use them to create a lot of stunning projects. My personal preference is to use them for making pillows. This particular hexagon is super easy and extremely quick to make.

Recommended yarn: Scheepjes Stone Washed XL
Recommended hook size: 5mm
Finished size: approx. 18cm
Abbreviations (US terms)
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
dc – double crochet
tr – treble
fpsc –front post single crochet
fphdc – front post half double crochet
fpdc – front post double crochet
fptr – front post treble
ch – chain
st(s) – stitch(es)
sk- skip
st – stitch
sl st – slip stitch
cl –cluster
sp – space
Special Stitches:
cluster – 3dc together, ch1 to close the cluster
picot – chain 3, insert your hook into the 1st chain, close with a sl st
Round 1
start with a magic circle, chain2 (counts as the first dc), 2 more dc to form the first cluster, close the cluster with ch1, ch2, cluster, ch2…repeat till you have 6 clusters

Round 2
fphdc around the cluster, (2sc, ch2, 2sc), fphdc around the next cluster…repeat, join with a sl st

Round 3
fpsc around any fphdc from the previous round, (4dc, tr, ch1, tr, 4dc in the ch2 sp), fpsc around the next fphdc…repeat, join with a sl st

Round 4
turn your work so that you face the wrong side, you will work behind in sc from R2sc, you will start from the 1st sc on the left side of the petal
sc in the sc before the petal, ch3, sc in the next sc, ch5, sc in the next sc closest to the next petal…repeat, join with a sl st

Round 5
(standing dc in the ch3 sp, 4dc, picot, 5dc), (2sc ,ch2 , 2sc in the ch5 sp), (5dc, picot, 5dc in the next ch3 sp)…repeat, join with a sl st
[6 petals, 24sc, 6ch2sp]

Round 6
(standing sc, picot, sc in the ch2 sp), ch8, (sc, picot, sc in the next ch2 sp)…repeat, join with a sl st
[6 picots, 6ch8sp]

Round 7
you will work in sc from R5 and ch8sp from R6, start with sc on the right side of any picot
standing sc, ch2, sk the picot, sc in the next st (push the chain behind the picot), (5dc, tr, ch1, tr, 5dc in the next ch8 sp)…repeat, join with a sl st
